Liquid Liner Battle: Kat Von D versus Stila

So are you trying to find a liquid liner, and don't know what to choose? I wanted to do a quick review of the Stila Stay-All-Day Waterproof Liquid Liner and the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. I'll be reviewing the two black liners, Black and Trooper, respectively.
I will start off with saying that I have watery eyes. Maybe it's because I wear contacts, maybe because I yawned, but my right eye especially tends to drip every now and then so liquid liner was something I was afraid of. With words like 'Waterproof" and "Stay-All-Day" that both brands have, I didn't know which one to choose! I had heard of the wonders of Kat Von D's lock it foundation, where it can cover up even tattoos! And then heard multiple stories of Stila's Stay All Day lipstick that wouldn't budge. Still, I ended up choosing the cheaper option.

Between the two, Kat Von D is 18$ for 0.02 oz, and Stila's is 20$ for 0.016 oz. However, there are two holiday sets floating around right now: KVD has a set of three tattoo liners for 26$ (originally 39$), and Stila has a set of four liners for 39$. The difference being that KVD's set is the difference in felt tips, whereas Stila's has 4 different colours: a full size of black, and three coloured liners.

The two felt tips are very similar, and both can give very precise lines.

I did a thin line (sorry for the bit unsteady hand), and then a thicker line on bottom. This is just the difference in intensity of pressure, but both liners give smooth even lines.

After drying, I then rubbed my hand with my other hand to see if they would smudge or move at all.
Both held steadfast.

So, so far, both liners give even lines, and they are smudge proof! Wonderful, really.

However.
One swipe of saline (similar to tear drops!) later, the thin lines both disappeared (although Stila's is still slightly there)

Another swipe and KVD was going out quickly. This picture doesn't do it justice, but KVD's liner was nearly gone in the middle, whereas Stila's seemed to disappear evenly.

In actual wear, I have noticed that KVD's liner smudges and pools in the water, so if you have watery eyes and you wipe them, you'll have black streaks on your face. Stila's just disappears. I have never noticed black marks when wearing Stila liner.

What I have taken to doing, is, because I want to use up KVD, I will wear it on my top lash only. I will wear gel eyeliner on my bottom lash, or pull out Stila's smudge stick eyeliner and dab some underneath. That way I don't feel bad about wasting my eyeliner, and feel better knowing that my Stila will get its time soon!

I hope this helps some people! If your eyes are watery, I recommend Stila most definitely. Even if they are dry, I really prefer Stila to KVD. I will use up my liner because I don't want to feel as if I wasted the money, but I definitely prefer and recommend Stila if you're looking for a new liquid liner!

Thank you for reading!
