Rather than your normal makeup post, today I have another sort of art to post!
Henna!
So last year, I decided that instead of just looking at the beautiful images online of these gorgeous henna tattoos, I would do some myself. I drew henna pictures on everything when I was bored at work, and I finally got the nerve to buy some. I ordered through Henna Caravan. I bought a really nice kit that included a bottle, two bags of paste, medical tape and a book with different designs and instructions on how to use it! I immediately drew all over my body and on my boyfriend's as well :)
However, one of the cons to henna is that since it's a plant-based stain, you have to sit outside to let the colour come out as dark as possible -- otherwise, your beautiful stain will only last a few days to a week! On Monday, I found out that Tuesday was supposed to be super nice weather, so I got my henna paste out of the freezer where it was waiting for me and let it thaw!
Here's what the design looks like while the paste is still on. I put medical tape over it, fell asleep and peeled the tape off in the morning. I played around outside for awhile, took a walk, read in the park, and looked back at my arm!
The beautiful reddish brown it turns after sitting in the sun. Unfortunately, you can see where I was in a hurry and accidentally smeared the design with the tape a bit.
Here's just a few other designs that I've done in the past -- on myself, my boyfriend, my sister, and even my mom! Most of these are taken with the henna paste still on, but the one with my hand was very vibrant.
The pictures are small, but click on any of them to zoom. One of my favourite designs was the one I did on Charles' chest :) The funny thing too that you can see is how much darker I am than my sister or mum. They look almost paper white!!
