I got some makeup samples from Shiro Cosmetics!! :) They're so pretty, but they're loose pigments, which is new for me. I've only really worked with this sort of thing if my pressed shadow broke! I bought several samples, and then got two full-sized Tardis shadow colours.
For Christmas, I got the MAC Holiday Brush set, and I can already tell a big difference in the application. The shadows end up having this beautiful satin finish that I didn't normally see when doing my own makeup!
I find that working with loose pigments is a bit tricky. You only need a dab of it, and it'll give you plenty to work with.
Excuse the messy brows.
In any case, I used four colours in this look today: Cornucopia, Mockingjay, and Girl On Fire from the Tributes Collection. The Tributes Collection, if you haven't caught on, is from the Hunger Games Tributes. Cornucopia is this beautiful golden colour like the horn that the tributes strive for; Mockingjay is a coppery brownish bronze that blends perfectly into Cornucopia; and Girl On Fire is this double toned orange and red mixture that just exudes confidence and appeal. I then darkened the corners and the crease with Black from Lorac Pro and threw some liner on.
Since the eyeshadow colours were so fierce, I went with a more demure colour for the lips, with Kat Von D's Lolita.
These eyeshadows are blowing me away with their quality and endurance. I use them over NARS Eyeshadow Base, but I've heard lots of good things about Fyrianne's Pixie Epoxy. I'm going to try that next, but I will definitely be buying more of Shiro's samples and maybe trying my hand at pressing shadows!
